We got back on sunday. I've been in extreme slow-mo and am just now getting around to blogging again.
Our trek was an exhausting success. It has been a road trip summer for us (a drive up to Ely, a drive through North Dakota, and then this trek through Arizona & Nevada). We flew into Phoenix and drove up through Flagstaff to stay overnight in Winslow, Arizona. (Go ahead and sing the song, you know you want to). Found a great inn, La Posada, a Mary Coulter designed inn. Amazing architecture. Even better food. It was worth it to stay there one evening just so we could eat breakfast there.
After a calorie-laden, entirely satisfying breakfast, we were off to the Petrified Forest National Park. Yep. It's the summer of petrified wood. Can you believe they have so much petrified wood just sitting around a parking lot?!? Amazing. The girls, however, we more enamoured with the concrete dinosaurs.
