Too ambitious

Well, it turns out I was WAY too ambitious. The gray pumpkin I got because it was so interesting looking turned out to be a real pain to carve. It was so thick and the outer gray "skin" was incredibly tough to cut through (and yet brittle at times). Needless to say, this is our last gray pumpkin for halloween. After breaking several carving tools and using a huge carving knife to hack my way through, I finally ended up with some semblance of a castle for Lolo. Unfortunately, my hands and wrists have had enough for tonight and poor Norah's Boots pumpkin will just have to wait for another time (preferably when Jim is around to help with the carving). Speaking of Jim and pumpkin carving, when we were out and about this afternoon, one of our neighbors asked whether or not we would be trying to carve pumpkins this year since he's out of town....luckily, neighborhood expectations for my carving abilities are rather low....seems Jim has set the bar pretty high for himself.
