More on the sandbox

Thanks for the advice. Lolo with a vacuum is not exactly a helpful thing....though she does enjoy it. And, the school is smarter than us....parents drive up, we're not allowed out of the cars, teachers strap the kids into their carseats. Sand definitely comes home with us. I need a mudroom. And a way to keep sand out of Lolo's shoes. There's got to be a good way to keep sand out of her shoes. In the summer, she wears flipflops to the neighborhood playground...but that's not really an option this time of year (nor at school).

Maybe you could get a piece of rubber non-skid material with lots of small holes in it - like used to keep rugs from slipping. If you get a really thick one, place it on the floor where you have Lolo take her shoes off, the sand might just collect under the mat and not get tracked all over the house. Also, a plastic box on the mat where she can dump the sand out of her shoes might help.
